Finally some much-needed rain! For the past few days the afternoons have turned cloudy and rumbly, but until yesterday not a drop fell. But yesterday evening, those clouds opened up and we had a nice shower, a good thing indeed for the garden.
We have another full weekend in store. Tomorrow we’re headed down the mountain to Lenoir, to visit with some good friends of ours that we haven’t seen in a disgracefully long time, and are very much looking forward to that. Then Sunday we head up to Blowing Rock for another dear, dear friend’s birthday party, also sure to be a fun time.
A few things:
I don’t normally want anything to do with soup in hot weather, but after the next round of pea picking, I may just have to make this Green Pea Soup.
This post reminds me how important it is to support local farmers. My good intentions sometimes fall by the wayside when cheap convenience rears its ugly head at the supermarket. Cheap food is an expensive illusion, and I must not forget that.
Love this necklace!
